Poop Emoji

If you are going to make a movie about emojis, then you better have as solid a cast as you possibly can to generate attention for it. Sony Pictures has announced a few new names that will provide their voices for the upcoming The Emoji Movie coming this summer, and the legendary Patrick Stewart is among the new additions.

Stewart, the man who has played the admirable and noble Captain Picard in the Star Trek series and Charles Xavier in the ongoing X-Men cinematic universe, will take on quite a different role this time around: the poop emoji.

From the genesis of this movie’s coming to be a reality, there were two ways to go about casting the Poop Emoji. You can either go as low-brow as you possibly can and get a character who can make all the fart jokes you can imagine (hooray Hollywood writing!), or you can go the other route and make this the classiest poop ever created. Having Stewart fill the role of the Poop Emoji suggests we’re going with the latter route in the filmmaking here, although Stewart is known to have a lighter side that can dabble in some crude humor where appropriate.

In fact, the teaser trailer for the film already dropped a bit of a preview of that high-class poop emoji character…

Other new voices to be confirmed for the movie include Jennifer Coolidge and Maya Rudolph. Others already announced for the movie include James Corden, Steven Wright, Rob Riggle and Jake T. Austin.

The Emoji Movie is slated for an August 4 release.
