Get ready for a double dose of Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live this week. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will be making a stop in New York and has been invited to appear on the show.

With his campaign gaining momentum for the Democratic ticket, making an appearance on Saturday Night Live is a pretty easy decision to make. What’s more, he will be on the show the same night Larry David is scheduled to host the show. David, famous for his work on Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Larry David Show, has been known to do a spot-on impression of the senator.

From Deadline’s report;

“He is going,” CNN senior Washington correspondent Jeff Zeleny reported moments ago, citing a senior campaign advisor. “He has been invited,” Zeleny said, but quickly added, “there are no official announcements because Saturday Night Live keeps its programming close to the vest. But he is heading there and he believes he will be on SNL and there’s every reason to believe he will be because Larry David has been playing him for so long.”

“That’s going to be quite the show – quite a debut on that stage,” he added.

This will be the first appearance for Sanders on the long-running late-night weekend show. Making an appearance on the sketch show has become a regular on the campaign trail for presidential hopefuls. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have each appeared on the show since last November, with Trump serving as a host and Clinton making a brief cameo.

It will be interesting to see how SNL works Sanders into the show, but you have to imagine it will be on the same screen as David’s portrayal of the senator, which would keep in line with the trend of recurring premises on the show previously discussed in our SNL recaps.
