Daniel Craig has reportedly been offered crazy money to return as James Bond for another installment in the spy thriller franchise.

Radar Online reports Sony is offering Craig $150 million to return as 007 in two more James Bond films.

The offer is and isn’t surprising for a number of reasons.

The latest James Bond movie was arguably the weakest of the four Bond films Craig has starred in. Spectre was lacking story-wise compared to 2012’s Skyfall or Craig’s incredible debut in Casino Royale. Sony appeared ready to move on to a fresh new face as Damian Lewis and Tom Hiddleston were reportedly courted for the role. But, Craig’s Bond films are among the highest grossing in the series, so, Sony wants to spend big money to make bigger money.

Aside from the state of Bond, Craig has publicly stated he doesn’t want to participate in a new film. The 48-year-old has admitted he’d “rather slash my wrists” than reprise the role.

“Now? I’d rather … slash my wrists,” he replied. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

“If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

If Craig is only in it for the money, Sony is dangling a carrot awfully close by reportedly offering him $150 million. The British actor seems emotionally and physically checked out of the role. But, $150 million is a payday he’d likely never see again. I’d sell my dignity for much less.
