The folks at South Park are truly doing God’s work.

South Park gloriously took a step towards video game prominence with the release of the fantastically fun RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth. With the game’s sequel, South Park: The Fractured but Whole set for release later in 2016, the show has created one of the most bizarre, stinkiest tie-ins to a video game ever: The Nosulus Rift.

What is the Nosulus Rift? Well, like the Oculus Rift, it’s a piece of virtual reality technology that allows you to experience new and exciting things. Instead of solely offering an immersive, VR visual experience, the Nosulus Rift has one single goal – to pump fart smells into users nostrils. Yes, it’s a fancy fart machine.

The idea is right up South Park’s alley.

The game’s primary antagonist is a kid who has the frightening superpower of extreme flatulence. When gamers experience the use of the power, the fart smell will be released. It’s the scratch-and-sniff of the video game world. The VR won’t be widely distributed, but it will be showcased at demo events for the upcoming game.

Essentially, the folks at South Park are doing an elaborate, technologically advanced fart joke. The fart smell might seem basic, but considering they’re implementing certain smells with VR is actually kind of cool, even if you have to smell a fart.

Admittedly, I hope the fart smells don’t catch on outside of the demo. We experience enough farting smells in our day-to-day lives.
