Justice League took the superhero spotlight over the weekend with the debut of its first trailer. But this is still Marvel’s world and a new trailer featuring its most popular hero will likely nudge the Super Friends off the stage, especially when Spider-Man brings more fun to the party.

After the requisite tease on social media to begin the week, the second trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming was released Tuesday morning. The first trailer we saw in December was a bit more dazzling, intended to show everybody that Marvel Studios was producing this rebooted version of Spider-Man and he lived in the same world as The Avengers, notably his new mentor and benefactor, Tony Stark.

Above all, this new movie was taking the character back to his roots. The Peter Parker so many fans relate to and grew up loving is the high school kid who had to deal with stuff like homework, girls, bullies and getting home on time in addition to fighting supervillains and saving New York.

The second trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming gives us more of the movie’s story, along with a bunch of new footage we haven’t seen before. The preview starts off with a bang, showing Peter Parker (Tom Holland) change into Spider-Man, which isn’t just a matter of shedding his clothes to get to the costume underneath. No, Spidey’s Tony Stark-designed suit is a bit more complicated to put on (making for a potentially embarrassing situation, stripping down in an alley), but sure seems a bit more practical. Give it a look:

In sharing Spider-Man with Sony and taking over production of the property, Marvel’s ambition was always to portray a much younger hero in contrast to the older, established veterans of The Avengers. That’s what we get here, with a Spider-Man so eager to show he belongs with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes while Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) constantly reminds him that he has much to learn. This is a Spider-Man who lacks experience and often impulsively jumps into action, perhaps without considering the consequences.

But as we also see in this trailer, young Spidey doesn’t want to stay in his lane and watch over his neighborhood. More importantly, he doesn’t always make the right decision — maybe in regards to picking a fight with The Vulture (Michael Keaton) among a bunch of civilians on the Staten Island ferry — and has to be bailed out by Iron Man. That costs him the use of his tricked-out suit and forces Spider-Man to prove he can be a hero without Stark’s advanced gadgetry. But maybe that also nudges him toward the temptation of joining forces with the bad guy in order to use some of his technology.

Ultimately, however, we know it doesn’t matter if he’s wearing a hoodie, leggings and goggles. With great power comes great responsibility, and all that.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7. Here is a very cool poster for the film, which breaks away from the model of hero staring at the audience in front of a logo. By doing so, it captures the character of Spider-Man perfectly.
