Since it was rebooted by Disney, the Star Wars franchise has taken a unique role in the movie industry as a franchise that can bring in almost any actor it wants. A perfect example of this is the upcoming Han Solo stand alone movie.

The Han Solo movie has already made multiple headlines for its cast additions of Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke. Now the cast is adding another star in Michael Kenneth Williams.

Those four stars have starred in four of the most popular TV shows of the 2000s in True Detective  (Harrelson), Atlanta and Community (Glover), Game of Thrones (Clarke), and now The Wire (Williams). Another major TV star also in the cast, though she didn’t get as much press for it, is Westworld’s Thandie Newton.

Here is what the official Star Wars press release said about the addition of Williams:

“StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that Williams has officially signed on for the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Williams comes to Star Wars having played many memorable roles in both TV and film, including Omar Little in The Wire and Albert “Chalky” White in Boardwalk Empire, bringing charisma, humanity, and nobility to all his performances.”
