Stranger Things season two

Stranger Things season two is starting to take shape

The Netflix hit is adding a trio of actors to its roster, as Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, and Linnea Berthelsen will join the cast for the upcoming season, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Here are the character descriptions per the report.

Astin will play Bob Newby, a kind-hearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.

Reiser will play Dr. Owens, a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a “clean-up” assignment who is tasked with containing the events of last year.

Berthelsen is set as Roman, an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab.

While Berthelsen is a newcomer, Astin and Reiser are fine veteran actors who should fit in nicely with the bizarre, upside-down world that creators The Duffer Brothers have established. Astin most recently appeared as a series regular on the first season FXX’s The Strain. Reiser, most famous for his role in 90’s sitcom Mad About You, currently stars in Amazon’s Red Oaks.

Season two of Stranger Things is reportedly set to take place a year after the events of the critically lauded first season. The description of the new characters gives enough information that the next installment of the show will explore the Hawkins Laboratory-Eleven mystery further. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but season two of Stranger Things is shaping up to be excellent. Please be good. The next season premieres in 2017.
