Will there be an audience for a talk show spoof about an alien hosting a late-night show to learn about humanity? Comedy Central hopes so.

The Gorburger Show has found new life on Comedy Central. Silicon Valley star T.J. Miller’s talk show parody starring a blue space monster who takes over a Japanese variety show to learn more about the human race was initially a web series on Funny or Die, receiving a pilot order from HBO in 2015. The show never materialized on the network, but The A.V. Club reports Comedy Central is now giving The Gorburger Show new life, picking the show up for an eight-episode run.

There are pros and cons in seeing The Gorburger Show end up on Comedy Central. The obvious pro being the pseudo-talk show will get a chance on television and not live only as a web series. It’s insane and bizarre and could totally fail, but at least it’s provided the opportunity to do so. However, after seeing the first episode, it’s too bad the show won’t get the full NSFW treatment it would have enjoyed on HBO.

I’m surprised Adult Swim didn’t give The Gorburger Show a chance, as it appears to be right up their alley. It’s like Eric Andre’s nightmare. Or a distant space cousin to the iconic Space Ghost Coast to Coast, which it clearly was inspired by.

T.J. Miller is more of a name now, thanks to Silicon Valley and Deadpool, so maybe that helped give this show another push. Considering the talent behind the show and the bizarre premise, this show should be worth checking out. The puppet work, the tension between host and staff, and the celebrity cameos will ensure a batshit, unique experience. Maybe Gorburger can interview Miller for one of the episodes.

The Gorburger Show will debut in the spring on Comedy Central.
