You probably know Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson best as playing Gregor Clegane aka “The Mountain” on Game of Thrones. The Mountain is known all throughout Westeros for his impressive, mythical feats of strength and warrior-like qualities, striking fear into the hearts of everyone.

But Björnsson isn’t just an actor who plays the strongest man in the world on cable. He does it in real life as well. This weekend The Mountain won the World’s Strongest Man competition in the Philippines.

It has been quite the journey for Björnsson in his quest to win the title. In each of the last six years, the actor/strongman has finished either second or third before finally claiming the top prize this year. Here is what the Icelandic strongman posted on his Instagram page about finally winning the honor.

The World’s Strongest Man title continues quite the year for The Mountain on the strongman circuit. Just a couple months ago he broke the world record by deadlifting 1,041 pounds at the Arnold Classic on the way to winning his first championship there as well.

In case you’d like to set your calendars, Björnsson’s World’s Strongest Man victory will be shown on CBS and CBS Sports Network from June-September. It probably won’t be quite as dramatic as trial by combat versus Oberyn Martell, but it will at least help you while you’re waiting until 2019 for the next season of Game of Thrones.
