Bruins’ Marc Savard: No return anytime soon

It's hard to see a player be out for an extended period of time for any reason, but the story of Marc Savard is especially painful. Concussed on a nasty hit by Matt Cooke on March 7th, 2010, and further concussed by Matt Hunwick the following January, Savard has hit roadblock after roadblock in his attempts to come back to the NHL. Monday over Twitter, Savard shared some of his personal thoughts.

It must be cold comfort for Savard to continue to draw a paycheck while his non-injured teammates have nothing. No amount of money can give Savard his livelihood back and apparently no amount of medical care is helping him rebound from his concussion. Concussions are tricky things; there is no way to determine how long one will last, or what the side effects of it will be. Savard has to just take things day by day, which might be the most excruciating part of all.
