Latest NHL Fan Face Off survey has some interesting questions

The NHL will periodically send out Fan Face Off surveys to people with NHL.com accounts that have opted in for the survey. Normally, they're borderline tedious things that are obviously meant for demographic studies or to figure out what to broadcast for ratings. This last one that was sent out, though, was a little different.

Among the usual questions regarding gender, where you live, and what your favorite team is, are questions that gage how you personally feel about the success of your team. One question asks where you predict your favorite team will finish the season: out of the playoffs, losing in the conference quarter, semi, or finals, losing in the Stanley Cup Final, or winning the Cup. That's a pretty unique way to figure out fan confidence.

Also, it asks about team MVP — a fair enough and normal enough question. The following question, however, is pretty different:

Oh, the answers they'll get from fans.

Honestly, though, outside of a chance for fans to play armchair GM, why include this? Again, do they want to see where a team's fan base stands? If the team is down in the standings, chances are good that fans will elect to trade one of their better players for some rebuilding picks — but very few teams are so far down in the standings that they're out of it. Maybe if there's an inkling in the fan base about missing the playoffs, or being a bubble team, the responses will be just as high. Or, if there's currently a player underperforming or just sending out bad vibes, this could tell that too (for the record, I chose David Perron. Bad vibes and too many offensive zone penalties).

So, what say you? If you had to choose one player at the deadline for your team to dump, who would it be?
