The cover of NHL 14 will feature either Martin Brodeur or Sergei Bobrovsky

Then there were two. The long journey to determine which athlete will grace the cover of EA's NHL 14 is nearing a conclusion. It's down to two goaltenders – Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils and Sergei Bobrovsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Voting ends on June 2nd, which means you still have some time to pick which goaltender you'd like to see on the cover of this year's game. Cast your vote over at NHL.com/CoverVote.

This is a fascinating final ballot. The legendary Brodeur vs. Bobrovsky, the #1 cop on the force. It's surprising the voting has come down to two goaltenders as we haven't seen a goalie on the cover (excluding the regional versions) since John Vanbiesbrouck appeared on NHL 97.

Brodeur's inclusion is no surprise. His storied career is coming to a close and it'd be awfully fitting to honor the 41-year-old netminder on the cover of EA's newest installment. As for Bobrovsky, he was an incredible story in 2013, carrying the Blue Jackets out of the basement of the NHL and into playoff contention.

However, there have been reports that Bobrovsky might abandon the NHL in favor of the KHL. While these reports currently fall into the category of rumor and speculation, EA might be hesitant allowing Bobrovsky to appear on the cover if a move to a different league might be in his future.
