The Vancouver Canucks posted a fascinating video on their YouTube channel, revealing what goes on during a trade call. The Canucks filmed assistant GM Lawrence Gilman's call with Dallas assistant GM Frank Provenzano and Brandon Pridham of the NHL as they discussed the Derek Roy trade.

If you're unfamiliar with how a trade call works, this is a fascinating look behind the scenes. The two assistant GMs discuss medical exams, timing and numerous other factors that you might forget have to take place before a trade can officially go through. For instance, it's interesting to note that the Canucks were on the hook to start paying Derek Roy on the day of the trade because the trade call took place before 5pm eastern time.

A big "thank you" to the Vancouver Canucks for providing some rather unprecedented access.
