Jaroslav Halak came flying out of his net to stop Ben Eager's breakaway. All right, that's an understatement. Let's try that again. Jaroslav Halak came flying way, way out of his net to stop Eager's breakaway.

Noticing that Eager was about to be in all alone, Halak rushed out and slid on the ice, poking the puck away at the top of the two circles. Halak's slide carried him outside of his own zone, forcing the goaltender to rush back to his crease from the neutral zone and retrieve his stick which he had lost when Eager made contact with it.

Halak's awareness on this play is incredible. It's also one of the few times you'll see a goaltender out in the neutral zone during a play. Halak gambled and it paid off – big time. The Blues seemed to find a new gear after Halak's save, carrying them to a 4-2 victory.
