Anaheim Ducks sign Dany Heatley

Dany Heatley has signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks. Heatley, 33, skated with the Minnesota Wild in 2013-14, producing 28 points over 76 games. Heatley’s production has slowed to a crawl over the last couple years and the Wild elected to let him walk. Anaheim now improves their depth by giving Heatley a contract that looks like a bargain.

It’s obvious that Heatley’s best days are behind him. Possibly far, far behind him. Still, the Ducks gave out a low risk, potentially high reward contract to a skater who desperately needs to get his career back on track.
