Boston vs Detroit didn’t appear to be your classic #1 vs #8 seed matchup. Many wondered if the Bruins could handle the Red Wings. Well, they did.
Here is the series recap:
Best Performance
Tuukka Rask
After getting beat in Game 1, Rask responded in workman like fashion. He had a GAA of 1.16 and Save % of .960. Those kind of numbers are going to get you places in the NHL. For Rask and the Bruins, it is getting them to the second round.
Goat of the Series
Gustav Nyquist
After a great regular season, the Red Wings were counting on Nyquist to score. He didn’t even get a point. 0. That is a huge step back for him, especially after how well he played down the stretch.
Game that turned the tide
Game 4. The Bruins were down 2-0 and looked like they were going to be traveling back to Boston all tied. They stormed back to tie it, and Iggy won it in OT:

That was Iggy’s first OT goal of his career.

What’s next for the Bruins?
A date with the Habs. What a matchup and what hate between the teams.
What’s next for the Red Wings?
The Red Wings are stuck in a noticeable and troubling decline. They scrambled just to make it into the playoffs. A lot of free agents are going to be allowed to walk and Detroit should have a very different looking roster come 2014-15.
