Happy Holidays! Our gift to you is another edition of Hockey Fights of the Week. What better way to celebrate the holidays than by watching two guys pummel the hell out of one another? The Feats of Strength is our favorite Festivus activity and there’s some impressive displays of strength below.
5. Jared Boll (CBJ) vs John Scott (ARI) – Dec. 17th
All praise future All-Star John Scott! He splits the decision in this fight with Boll, but he still holds a commanding lead in the All-Star voting. Scott was recently placed on waivers, but no one can deny his value to the All-Star Game.
4. Mark Borowiecki (OTT) vs Braydon Coburn (TB) – Dec. 20th
Usually we criticize the officials for breaking up fights too quickly, but this is one case where they should have stepped in. Coburn dishes out one hell of a beating to a mostly defenseless Borowiecki.
3. Derek Dorsett (VAN) vs Nate Prosser (MIN) – Dec. 15th
Renewed rivalries are always fun. Dorsett and Prosser fought back in 2012 and three years later things got heated once again. The officials almost broke this one up too early, but thankfully they let things go. Dorsett hits Prosser repeatedly in the back of the head and it’s fair to assume Prosser will want a third matchup.
2. Ryan Callahan (TB) vs Scott Hartnell (CBJ) – Dec. 14th
This one is over before it ever really began, but Callahan is able to get in a few quick punches to win the fight. One of Callahan’s rights appears to catch Hartnell clean in the face, which is enough to drop Hartnell and wrap things up quickly.
1. Deryk Engelland (CGY) vs Ryan Reaves (STL) – Dec. 19th
Reaves has been labeled as one of the league’s best fighters, but he hasn’t been dropping the mitts nearly as often in 2015-16. His first fight of the season was against a familiar foe – Deryk Engelland. The two previously battled in 2011 and 2013 and it’s clear there’s still quite a bit of anger left over.
Here’s hoping Reaves will fight more often because it’s always a joy to watch.
