The 5 best hockey fights from Week 12

The holidays are still in full swing as we head towards New Year’s and we’re excited to bring you another installment of the week’s best fights. Once again, no love was lost as numerous players were eager to throw their gloves down despite the peace and joy of the holidays.

5. Steve Downie (ARZ) vs Andreas Martinsen (COL) – Dec. 27th

Honestly, this wasn’t a great fight as both players were mostly unable to land any stiff punches. Downie picks up the loss simply because he was facing away from Martinsen for the majority of the fight and was on the defensive until the very end.

4. Jarred Tinordi (MON) vs Tom Wilson (WAS) – Dec. 26th

This was a pretty solid fight. Wilson loses his lid early on, but manages to win this one as he catches Tinordi with plenty of shots both to the head and to the body.

3. Patrick Maroon (ANH) vs Tanner Glass (NYR) – Dec. 22nd

Maroon and Glass fought back in March of 2014 and they dropped the gloves again just in time for Christmas. There’s a lot of jostling and wrestling, but the anger in this fight carried it to third on our list.

2. Ryan Reaves (STL) vs Tyler Randell (BOS) – Dec. 22nd

Reaves is fighting again which is great news for hockey fans and horrible news for anyone he opposes. This fight ends pretty quickly, but it once again demonstrates that Reaves throws some of the hardest punches in the NHL.

1. Troy Brouwer (STL) vs Antoine Roussel (DAL) – Dec. 27th

When two of the best teams in the West play a back-to-back, home-and-home set, things are going to get chippy. The Stars and Blues fought twice in the first seven seconds of the second period, with the above battle between Brouwer and Roussel kicking things off. We would have preferred a Reaves-Roussel fight, but this one was still pretty awesome.
