Bruins prospect Malcolm Subban suffers fractured larynx after taking puck to throat

Boston Bruins prospect Malcolm Subban was taken to the hospital Saturday, after taking a puck to the throat while playing for the Providence Bruins in a game verse the Portland Pirates. Subban reportedly stayed in the hospital overnight for precautionary reasons, and the club released a statement saying the former first-round pick was diagnosed with a fractured larynx and is out indefinitely.

Malcolm Subban was struck in the throat with a puck Saturday night during pregame warmups. He was transported to Maine Medical Center and was diagnosed with a fractured larynx. He stayed overnight at Maine Medical Center and was transported to Mass General Hospital on Sunday for further evaluation. He is in stable condition and will be sidelined indefinitely. The team will provide additional details when they become available.”

Subban posted from his Twitter account, letting fans know he appreciate it all the well-wishes.

His brother, star Montreal Canadiens defenseman PK Subban, says his brother is built tough.

The 22-year-old was in the midst of his third pro season with Providence. In 27 games as a starter for the baby Bruins this year, he’s posted a 14-8-5 record with a 2.46 GAA and a .911 save percentage.

Thankfully the injury, while horrible and not something I’d want anybody to experience, wasn’t worse. Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery.
