Evgeny Medvedev arrested for suspicion of DUI

It was reported first by Sons of Penn that Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Evgeny Medvedev was arrested on suspicion of a DUI.

This is what Lower Moreland, PA police chief Pete Hanson had to say about the incident to NBC 10 news:

“Medvedev was released from police custody this morning with pending charges from a stop that occurred in Lower Moreland, PA around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.”

Medvedev had a tumultuous year with the Flyers as he never seemed to find his groove with the team.

When Ron Hextall was asked about it by CSN Philadelphia, this was his response:

“I heard a report on it, but I don’t know any more than that, I’m certainly not going to comment on it at this point.”

A lot of non-answers and a bunch of question marks are surrounding this situation thus far. Medvedev had 13 points in 45 games and had a $3 million dollar cap hit. Considering what he brought to the team and now the issues off the ice, it would come as a big surprise for him to come back and be a member of the Flyers organization in the future.

He does have good underlying numbers though, which may prompt a team looking for some cheap help on the back end to take a flyer (pun intended) on the Russian defenseman.
