Video: Black cat runs on ice, crosses Sharks bench before Game 1

There was a famous moment in the 1969 baseball season where a black cat ran on the field at Shea Stadium and crossed the Cubs dugout. Baseball players and fans, being the superstitious creatures they are, believed that the Cubs were cursed by the cat as they lost the division to the New York Mets that season.

So are you superstitious? If so, and you’re a San Jose Sharks fan, then watch out. Because a black cat somehow got on the ice and crossed their bench before Game 1 started. Granted, if you’re a hockey fan, you’re probably superstitious considering the beard that’s on your face in the name of superstition. So I think it’s pretty safe to assume you’re superstitious. So here’s a better question … how the heck did a cat get on the ice?

No cats were harmed in the making of this playoff series.

(P.S. The Sharks defeated the Predators in Game 1, so Nashville is going to have to bring a few more black cats to finish the job.)
