Video: Chinese KHL team is still trying to get a handle on hockey’s traditions

Hockey is an odd sport when you get down to it. Skating around with knives on the bottom of your shoes while moving swiftly on ice. It is completely understandable for someone to not understand the intricacies of the sport.

As Kunlun Red Star, the KHL’s new Chinese team, tries to adjust to hockey, it’ll take a little while to get even a ceremonial puck drop right.

This is oddly endearing. The ceremonial puck drop is a weird, weird tradition. I don’t personally get it but who am I to criticize? As Kunlun Red Star begins to get competitive, I am excited to see how the Chinese embrace the game. Hopefully it goes a little better than the video above.
