Video: Chris VandeVelde elbows Jonathan Toews in the head

Chris VandeVelde is going to be hearing from the Department of Player Safety after he elbowed Jonathan Toews in the head. This brutal shot to the head looks to be pretty intentional, but VandeVelda only picked up a two-minute penalty on the play.

There really isn’t a defense for this one. Some hits to the head are partially caused by the receiving player altering their course, but Toews maintains the same path the entire time. VandeVelde goes well out of his way and extends his arm to ensure contact to the head.

This deserves a lengthy suspension.
