Video: The last 30 seconds between North America and Russia were exhilarating

If the NHL needs any help convincing fans that the World Cup of Hockey can produce some thrilling hockey, they should just show them the final 30 seconds from Team North America’s game against Team Russia.

Clinging to a 4-3 lead with under a minute ago while shorthanded, Russia narrowly kept the puck out of the net despite several big chances from North America.

That’s the type of excitement you’d expect to see in the closing seconds of a playoff game, not in a tournament before the season even begins.

The World Cup of Hockey has its flaws, but Team North America and the excitement which comes with following the youngsters is already a huge hit.
