ECHL goalie Alex Nedeljkovic had a pretty huge night for the Florida Everblades on Friday night. With Nedeljkovic’s holding on to a 4-3 lead, the goalie took his opportunity to score the first goalie goal in Everblades history by firing a puck down the ice at an empty net.
Viktor Arvidsson may have closed out 2016 with one of the best goals of the year. During a stretch of 4-on-4 play against the St. Louis Blues, Arvidsson went between his legs to get around Jay Bouwmeester and made Jake Allen look silly to give the Nashville Predators a 3-0 lead.
The NHL still hasn’t decided whether or not it will participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics held in South Korea. Some preliminary discussions have been held between the league, the owners and the NHLPA, but so far a final decision appears to be a ways off. With all of the Olympic uncertainty and the league trying […]
Jaromir Jagr’s career has been insane and we’ll never get tired of looking at graphics which put his storied run into perspective. When the Florida Panthers recently competed against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the 44-year-old Jagr battling against the 19-year-old Auston Matthews was a story in itself which inspired one awesome graphic.
It’s time to sit back and reflect on all of the craziness from the past year now that 2016 is almost behind us. The Puck Drunk Love team published over 1,000 articles in 2016 about a huge variety of topics covering the NHL, KHL, minors and even life away from the arena. Overall, 2016 was […]
The Kiss Cam produced one of the best moments of the 2017 World Junior Championship while also creating a hero in the process. When one Slovakia fan was shown on the big screen, he did what any smart man would do during the Kiss Cam – ignored the girl he was with, kissed his beer and […]
The “save of the year” description is thrown around pretty liberally these days, but Marc-Andre Fleury’s effort to keep the New Jersey Devils from scoring is more than deserving of that label. Fleury was moving to cover the angle when a deflected puck floated towards his now-empty goal. The Penguins goaltender was able to reach […]
The Minnesota Wild have been on quite the roll of late, winning each of their past 11 games. Their streak has pushed them up the standings and into a tight battle with the Chicago Blackhawks for the top spot in the Central Division. The winning streak is impressive enough as is, but behind the streak […]
Shortly after retiring in 2015, Daniel Carcillo created the Chapter 5 Foundation which is a group dedicated to helping players deal with post-concussion syndrome after their playing days are over. Recently, Steve Downie took to Twitter to rant about the Coyotes while airing his frustrations about how he and others are perceived in the modern era of […]
Russia started off the World Juniors on a sour note with a 5-3 loss to Canada. The win was a big one for Canada after they disappointed in the tournament last year (finishing sixth overall), but Russia didn’t seem too impressed by Canada’s effort. Following the game, Russian defenseman Mikhail Sergachev dismissed Canada and said that […]
Skittles has a unique advertising campaign in Canada and they’ve called on Johnny Gaudreau to help them out. The Skittles Holiday Pawn shop is taking an autographed stick from Gaudreau and coating it in Skittles. Canadian fans who take a photo of themselves with Skittles and post it on Instagram will be entered to win the rather […]
[link_box id=”22277″ site_id=”17″ layout=”link-box-third” alignment=”alignright”]NBC and NBCSN are the official home of the NHL on television. That’s a fact the network seemingly likes to ignore as it routinely fails to promote and market the game as appropriately as they should. The most recent example comes from NBCSN’s Christmas / Holiday message which completely ignored the […]
You can always count on Alex Ovechkin providing a unique, entertaining answer even to the most basic of questions. When Ovechkin was asked by a youth hockey player whether or not he and Sidney Crosby were friends, Ovechkin gave a response which was vintage Ovie and dripping in sarcasm.
Shane Doan had a pretty memorable night on Friday, scoring his 400th career goal in his 1,500th game in the NHL. Doan, who is almost as much of a cowboy as he is a professional athlete, received a warm welcome from the fans prior to his milestone game. As the two teams warmed up, fans tossed […]
P.K. Subban is arguably the most charitable player in the NHL. Now that he’s in Nashville, he’s bringing his holiday surprises to sick children there while also creating a special bond with the children he is continuing to help back in Montreal. Subban surprised several sick children with sickle cell disease, loaded them up in Subban’s […]
