Video: Coyotes fans throw cowboy hats on the ice for Shane Doan’s 1,500th game

Shane Doan had a pretty memorable night on Friday, scoring his 400th career goal in his 1,500th game in the NHL. Doan, who is almost as much of a cowboy as he is a professional athlete, received a warm welcome from the fans prior to his milestone game. As the two teams warmed up, fans tossed a bunch of cowboy hats on the ice to mark the occasion.

Doan responded by skating over and briefly putting on one of the cowboy hats.

That’s a fun moment for the man who really personifies the Coyotes. The organization has been ridiculed, most recently by Steve Downie, but there’s no denying that Doan is the face of the team and is one of the most respected players in hockey.
