Video: Kari Lehtonen makes an amazing glove save against the Flyers

Kari Lehtonen’s play has been fairly mediocre in 2016-17, compiling a decent win/loss record with fairly pedestrian GAA and save percentage numbers. That being said, Lehtonen may have just claimed the best save of the season with his glove robbery on Philadelphia’s Ivan Provorov.

The Flyers set up a great play, luring Lehtonen out of his crease before playing the puck back to Provorov who had a mostly open net and a great screen on the Dallas netminder. Instead of a sure goal, the Flyers came up empty.

That’s pure robbery. There’s really no telling how Lehtonen even saw the puck with all of the bodies in front of him, but lo and behold, he flashed his mitt and made an outstanding save.

Lehtonen is well removed from the form he enjoyed in 2013-14 in which he had a strong 2.41 GAA and a .919 save percentage, but saves like these give hope to Stars fans that maybe he’ll once again find that skill of old.
