Video: Matthew Tkachuk headbutts Marco Scandella

Matthew Tkachuk is praised for his physical style of play, but on occasion he seems to cross a line which no fan can support. While battling for position in front of the Minnesota goal, Tkachuk bent down and headbutted Marco Scandella.

Scandella immediately looks around to see if the officials caught the play, but looked more surprised than anything.

This isn’t the first time Tkachuk has been at the focal point of a dirty play. At 18, he is already developing a reputation that he may not want to be associated with, including questionable hits and embellishing. There’s no question that Tkachuk is incredibly talented, but he needs to cut this out of his game.

It’s also worth pointing out that Tkacuk’s mouth guard isn’t protecting anything here. If you’re going to headbutt someone, you’d think you’d make sure your teeth are protected instead of chewing your mouth guard like gum.
