Video: Nathan MacKinnon loses an edge and crashes violently into the boards

Nathan MacKinnon and Jacob Markstrom are lucky to have avoided a serious injury after MacKinnon lost an edge and crashed awkwardly into the boards. MacKinnon lost his edge between the circles and slid just wide, narrowly avoiding a huge collision with Markstrom who was playing the puck just outside of his crease.

That could have ended really, really badly. Markstrom appeared to have noticed MacKinnon just in time and was able to move just enough to avoid having his legs completely taken out by the sliding MacKinnon.

Players losing an edge isn’t exactly a rare occurrence, but it is pretty rare to see a player lose an edge so far out from the boards and have such a violent collision. MacKinnon was dazed after the crash into the boards, but thankfully he wasn’t seriously injured.
