Video: Oliver Bjorkstrand scores a goal through the net

Here’s something you don’t – and shouldn’t – see very often in the NHL. Oliver Bjorkstrand tried to throw the puck into the crease, but he missed and the puck hit the side of the cage. Instead of bouncing off the net, the puck slipped through the netting and hit Marc-Andre Fleury in the back before trickling over the line.

Because it’s the preseason, the goal actually counted.

That type of play should be reviewed even in the preseason. It’s pretty obvious that the puck went through the outside of the net, but for some reason the play wasn’t reviewed and the goal counted.

Hopefully this will be the only time this type of play happens all season.
