William Nylander got his first taste of NHL action when the Toronto Maple Leafs called up the forward prior to their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Most would consider the call to come up from the AHL to the NHL a promotion, but maybe not in the case of the Leafs.
The Toronto Sun harshly summed things up, via Reddit Hockey:
It’s a big change to jump from the AHL to the NHL, but the Sun is mocking the fact Nylander goes from a first place team with the Toronto Marlies to the Maple Leafs who reside in the basement of the Eastern Conference.
