Although many people despise referees, we all realize that they are just doing their job. So, when they are trying to get the hell out of the way of a play, they may not be looking where they are going.
This is exactly what happened with defenseman Jake Muzzin and referee Kelly Sutherland.
It really did look terrible on the replay. I was surprised that he was able to get up from the hit, let alone skate off. He actually was able to return the next period and finish the game. No word whether or not Muzzin will receive a call from the Department of Player Safety for this nasty hit (this is a joke).
Maybe it is time to respect the referees a little more for what they put out on the line? What do you say hockey fans?
