Who would’ve thought that Jessie Vargas’ win over Anton Novikov would nearly be the saving grace of the HBO card headlined by Brandon Rios vs. Diego Chaves? But at least we got an entertaining, if not expected KO from Sergey Kovalev over Blake Caparello. Drakulich’s decision to pull the plug on Rios-Chaves when he did, resulting on a funky disqualification, set off many officiating watchdog alarms.
