- Randy Caballero vs. Ruben Garcia, Friday, Estrella TV/RingTV.com, Indio Calif. Caballero returns to the ring against the unspectacular Garcia after losing his bantamweight world title on the scales; he was due to defend it on the Canelo vs Cotto undercard but weighed in 5.5 lbs overweight. Junior welterweight prospect Frankie Gomez treads water on the undercard — it looked like it was time for him to step up at the end of last year, but at least he’s staying busy.
- Knockout CP Freshmart vs Carlos Buitrago, Friday, Bangkok. This rematch featuring two of the smallest weight division’s biggest talents isn’t going to be broadcast on US TV, but if you’re into the little guys it could be worth tracking down. The winner will likely have to fight Hekkie Budler, currently the best strawweight in the world.
