Most people can be categorized one of two ways. You can be a dog person or a cat person. NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer has become a pig person.
Owning a pig should not be a shock considering Bower and his family live on a farm in North Carolina, but June the five-month-old potbelly pig has become a bit of a miracle pet in the making for the Bowyer family. June goes almost everywhere with the family and even gets along with the family’s pet dogs.
June was one of 12 piglets born on the Bowyer farm last December but ended up being the lone survivor after a cold winter. As the pig family was succumbing to the elements, Bowyer went into action to make sure June would survive at any cost.
“I got a heat pad from (my wife, Lorra), and within seconds, this thing was on its feet,” Clint explained to USA Today. “And I bottle fed it every two hours for two weeks – in my house, my brand-new house that I worked for my whole life. (I) finally get to build my dream home and had a pig in the kitchen the whole Christmas vacation.”
June appears to be doing well these days. The potbelly pig is up to 40 pounds, which is now leaving the swine unable to keep up with the dogs the way she used to. But this pig still wants to let everyone know who is really in charge.
“She rules the roost,” Clint said. “She’s cool, she’s like a dog (and) she’s funny. She’ll walk around with you, she swims in my pool, which is not normal. People look at you weird.”
Everyone looks at the pig people a bit perplexed at first, but every pet has its own identity that warms the heart.
