Former NASCAR driver Robby Gordon’s father and stepmother were found dead in their California home on Wednesday, per the Orange County Register.

Police were called to the home of Robert and Sharon Gordon in the evening where the bodies of the Gordons’ were found alongside an unidentified weapon. There’s no official cause of death but nothing has been ruled out, Orange County Supervising Deputy Coroner Kelly Keyes told USA TODAY Sports. Scheduled autopsies should reveal more insight into what happened. The Orange County Register reports police don’t believe there’s a suspect at large.

The news is a huge tragedy in the racing world.

Gordon, 47, is currently a truck driver for the Speed Energy Formula Off-Road series, which he created. He’s a veteran of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, debuting in 1991 and leaving the sport in 2013. Gordon’s appeared in 575 races over 20 years with his best (ninth place) finish occurring at the 2003 Winston Cup Series. Gordon finished his NASCAR career with three wins and 39 top-ten finishes. Gordon also raced in the Indianapolis 500 10 times.

The investigation is still ongoing. Detectives told CBS Los Angeles the incident may be a murder-suicide, which would fit the description of the crime scene. Until coronary results come in, it’s unfair to speculate.
