September’s FIFA rankings come out Thursday and with a round of World Cup qualification in the books, there is a bunch of movement in the standings. A couple wins against some top teams will vault a team over many others, while a couple losses will cause a team to drop like a rock.

While the rankings officially come out Thursday, we can tally up the point totals every team is expected to have and have a good idea who will be where before the actual list is revealed.

Due to Germany’s two wins against Czech Republic and Norway in World Cup qualification, they are expected to become the new No. 1 ranked team in the world. The previous top team, Brazil, defeated Ecuador and drew Colombia and that was enough to put Germany ahead.  Two big movers in the top five were Portugal and Belgium, who gained three and four spots respectively. The two teams who were in the top five, Poland and Switzerland (who anyone that watches soccer could say they aren’t two of the top five teams in the world) dropped to six and seven respectively.

The United States, who lost and drew this month, only dropped a couple spots to 28, and that was due to Denmark and Turkey vaulting up the standings to just pass them. Elsewhere in CONCACAF, Mexico remains at 14 while Costa Rica stays at 21.

We have the top 30 which is expected to be the order when FIFA reveals the list Thursday. After processing the point totals for the top 50, this top 30 isn’t 100% guaranteed. There is a chance where some team in 55th gains 30 or so spots and gets in the top 30, but that is unlikely to happen. So this is most likely going to be the list.
