Panama own goal

After using a late comeback last week to beat Nicaragua in the CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage, it appears Panama’s luck has evened out. After 76 scoreless minutes in Wednesday’s quarterfinal match against Costa Rica, Panama’s Anibal Godoy headed a Costa Rica free kick into his own goal:

The announcers were dead right. It almost looked like Godoy did it on purpose.

The 1-0 score held up as Costa Rica advanced to the Gold Cup semifinals.
