DC United NEW Primary

10) D.C. United – Primary

Of MLS teams who can go traditional with their primary kits, D.C. United is probably the only team with permission to do so, given their history. The new crest makes it a little different.

Montreal Impact NEW Primary

9) Montreal Impact – Primary

Montreal followed the Red Bull’s lead to go with the faux “tramp stamp” on the lower back of the kit. Regardless, Montreal went with blue and black stripes with white pinstripes and is a very neat design.

New England Revolution NEW Primary

8) New England Revolution – Primary

New England did something different than any other team. The Revs put a racing stripe down the middle of their primary kit. The red and white stripes work with the solid blue and seeing them wear these at the Desert Diamond Cup, they look good on the field as well.

NYCFC NEW Secondary

7) New York City FC – Secondary

When I first saw this kit, I hated it. I thought it was one of the worst kits in MLS. Then seeing it again and again, I grew into it and I now like it. It’s very modern but a conventional looking kit all at the same time. And it’s a step in the opposite direction with what Manchester City has, which is what many fans want, so all in all, a great looking kit.

Portland Timbers NEW Secondary

6) Portland Timbers – Secondary

The Timbers went with horizontal stripes, but with a twist. The stripes consist of smaller stripes that slightly change in color and offer a cool effect. The white “Alaska Airlines” graphic could’ve been incorporated into the kit a bit better but it doesn’t take away from the kit all that much. I’m sure Portland fans will love this kit simply because of that star above their crest, which will be on all of their kits due to winning the MLS Cup last year.

Houston Dynamo NEW Secondary

5) Houston Dynamo – Secondary

This kit is going to divide opinions. People are either going to love this kit or hate this kit. I love the kit, it’s a great retro design in a modern looking kit. They just better not wear that kit in Houston in the summer because wearing black in that heat would be unbearable.

LA Galaxy NEW Primary

4) LA Galaxy – Primary

The Galaxy went with a similar version of their previous kit that had the diagonal stripe, but they were able to go in a different direction without giving up their traditional design, which is a difficult beam to balance but is great when it’s successful. This kit, with the blue and gold diagonal stripe looks wonderful, even while incorporating the “Herbalife” kit sponsor.

Vancouver Whitecaps NEW Secondary

3) Vancouver Whitecaps – Secondary

Vancouver went different with their new secondary kit and it came out great. There is so much detail with this kit but has a very simplistic look. The diamond pattern on the front really completes the look and gives it an original and beautiful feel.

Seattle Sounders NEW Third

2) Seattle Sounders – Third

As much as I didn’t care for the traditional green color scheme, this third kit is simply sublime and immediately one of the best kits in MLS. The fluorescent blue for the logo works great and the design on the front, it looks like I would be wearing a cotton shirt. A simple, but effective design and one that is sure to be popular among fans, even though the Sounders may not be wearing these as often as their other kits.

Sporting KC NEW Secondary

1) Sporting Kansas City – Secondary

Since the rebrand to Sporting KC, I have heard nothing but great things from Sporting fans, rival fans and neutral fans as well as pundits that SKC has the best overall looking kits around. Their newest creation keeps up with that stellar tradition. The people in KC knocked it out of the park again with this great looking dark blue with lighter blue horizontal stripes. This kit is classy, but striking at the same time and was designed to look great as it’s worn both on the field and while walking down the street. To reveal this kit, Sporting went big by showing a commercial in the Kansas City market during Super Bowl 50. This is going to be a favorite with most people over the next two years.
