There’s grown ups having fun while teaching them the game of soccer, and then there is the Ridiculous Soccer Challenge that the Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS decided to put together.

It’s a simple premise — take two LA Galaxy stars and put them up against 30 eight-year-olds and watch the fun ensue. We’re also guessing that the Galaxy were thinking its star players would get beat.

That hadn’t happened in the three previous editions of the “ridiculous soccer challenge,” and earlier this week that same group of 30 eight-year-olds were defeated in a big battle with international superstars Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane.

It was a close 3-2 battle, but one that the kids couldn’t overcome thanks to a brace from Keane and another goal from Gerrard obviously. Heck, the stars even decided to not put one of them in between the sticks in the hopes of not needing a keeper at all.

Prior to this loss, the group of 30 eight-year-olds also lost to Giovani dos Santos & Gyasi Zardes, Ashley Cole & Baggio Husidic and Jelle Van Damme & A.J. DeLaGarza. It was the first sweep in the history of this Ridiculous Soccer Challenge that the Galaxy have put on before.

Not only did the kids get to share the part with some big names, they also got to know the players individually while taking ride-alongs with the players and being able to ask any questions they wanted.

Maybe next year it should be a group of 40 nine-year-olds? Or perhaps something a bit more fair for the kids than taking on two of the biggest names in international soccer? Just saying.
