Want to get away?

Somebody give Warren Beatty a hug, because he was seemingly placed in an impossible situation at the Oscars. But somewhere, Steve Harvey is smiling and feeling relieved as he is now officially off the hook.

Upon further review, Moonlight wins Best Motion Picture; EPSN nabs an Oscar too

Following a year of wild sports championship finishes, the Oscars wanted to get in on the fun too.

If you went to be before the end of the Academy Awards, then you missed the Dewey Beats Truman of Oscar mishaps. After La La Land was announced as the winner of Best Motion Picture, midway through the acceptance speech it was learned the wrong film had been named the winner. Moonlight was the true winner, leaving for quite an unreal scene on the stage.

In retrospect, you could tell something was up before the big announcement.

As you can imagine, Twitter had a field day with reacting to this bizarre sequence of events.

In stark contrast to last year’s Academy Awards, there was a very noticeable diversity push in this year’s programs, and deservingly so. The top supporting awards went to Mahershala Ali and Viola Davis. Although, Denzel Washington was passed over by Casey Affleck, which caused a bit of a firestorm.

On the sports front, ESPN Films took home the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in recognition of the hit O.J.: Made in America series. Between this and The People Vs. O.J. Simpson winning nine Emmy Awards, the former Heisman Trophy winner just needs a Broadway musical based on his story and a Grammy-winning album to complete the award circuit.

ESPN wasn’t the only company celebrating a first Oscar. Amazon and Netflix also broke new ground by picking up the first Oscars for a streaming service. Amazon celebrated a win for best original screenplay in Manchester by the Sea and Netflix celebrated  The White Helmets winning best documentary short.

Meanwhile, Vegas always knows…

Quick question. Why can’t Nicole Kidman clap like a human?

Of course, it wouldn’t be the Oscars if time management issues were not prevalent.

Kyle Busch makes last-lap push to win Daytona 500

Kyle Busch picked a good time to win a lap at the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

DAYTOOONNNNNAAAAAAAAA….

Anyone who has ever stepped foot in an arcade since the mid-1990s has been sure to hear that song as they walked by. It was always one of my favorite arcade games at the time, right along with The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ms. Pac-Man.

If you are only going to lead one lap of the Daytona 500, you might as well go ahead and make it the final lap. Kurt Busch made history on Sunday by becoming the first driver to win the Daytona 500 by leading just one lap, the final one. The thrilling finish capped off a wild afternoon of racing with accidents filling the race. Busch took advantage of leader Chase Elliott running out of gas. Kudos to Phillip Bupp, who called Busch to win the Daytona 500.

Not to be overlooked, this was also the first Daytona 500 for Tony Stewart, the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing.

“I ran this damn race (17) years and couldn’t win it, so finally won it as an owner,” Stewart said.

Longtime driver Michael Waltrip made the final left turns of his career in respectable fashion.

Oh, and guess who was at the Daytona 500? Rob Gronkowski, of course…
