This pretty much summed up the night for the Mountaineers.

A night to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime record

Remember the classic baseball video game, R.B.I. Baseball for the Nintendo? I had it, and I fondly remember the one time I ever got my grandfather to play it. He had no clue what was happening, but he was kind enough to stick with it long enough for me to take what felt like a 99-0 lead in the top of the first inning, although it was probably closer to 20-0 or so. Either way, the point is it is incredibly difficult to do any one thing 100 times in a row, which makes the UConn women’s team’s latest achievement all the more incredible.

UConn women winning streak hits triple digits

Doing anything 100 times in a row is no small feat.

Welp, they did it! The UConn women’s basketball team notched their 100th consecutive win last night with a victory over No. 6 South Carolina. What Geno Auriemma has done in Storrs with this program is nothing short of incredible. As if the national championships were not enough to back that up, now he has the Huskies winners of 100 straight games. And that’s just the start. This is the third winning streak of at least 70 games UConn’s women have had under Geno and second of at least 90 games The last loss UConn suffered took place on November 14, 2014. A lot has happened in the sports world since then, and there may be no end in sight any time soon for the ongoing winning streak. Getting to 200 may not be likely, but would it really shock anyone at this point?

No. 3 Kansas rallies from 14 down with 2:58 to play to stun No. 9 WVU in overtime

This pretty much summed up the night for the Mountaineers.

The month of February has not been shy on handing out a platter of significant leads being blown in the clutch. Monday night gave us one more to add to the list with No. 9 West Virgina jumping out to a 10-0 lead to start the game against No. 3 Kansas in Allen Fieldhouse and then fail to close out a 14-point lead in the final minutes of the game. The Jayhawks took advantage of some late hot shooting and some miserable free throw shooting from WVU to force overtime. When that game went to OT, it felt as though Kansas already had it won, although Kansas had to hold off their visitors in a key Big 12 matchup for an 84-80 victory.

Seriously, take a look at this game flow chart from ESPN.com and you can see West Virginia was essentially in control for the majority of the game until it just went stone cold in the final three minutes of the second half.

Things looked so ominous for the Jayhawks that fans started to actually get out of their seats and make their way to the exits with just under three minutes to play. Dick Vitale was not pleased.

Vitale took another opportunity to teach doubtful Kansas fans a lesson after Kansas came back to tie the game.

With the win, Kansas maintained a decent lead in the Big 12 standings by gaining a game on the Mountaineers and Baylor. Oh yeah, No. 4 Baylor lost on Monday night as well. The Bears were upended on the road by Texas Tech (the same Red Raiders that came so close to pulling off an upset over the Jayhawks in their previous game. It was the second time this season Baylor lost to Texas Tech, and it was cause for Red Raider fans to storm the court.

No. 8 Louisville had to escape Syracuse with a win in overtime, and No. 2 Villanova had no trouble with DePaul.

Nuggets drain 24 three-pointers in rout of Warriors

The Nuggets out-Warriored the Warriors on Monday night.

If you don’t have LeBron Jame son your roster, what is the best way to beat the Golden State Warriors? Tying an NBA record for most three-pointer sin a game is a good way to start. The Denver Nuggets dropped 24 three-pointers against Golden State in a 132-110 victory. The record is shared with the Houston Rockets, who hit 24 3’s earlier this season against New Orleans. Denver was on fire early with a 42-point first quarter, and Steph Curry had a rough night with just 11 points and one three-pointer all night despite taking 11 shots. Curry went 4-of-18 in the game.
