Give Superman an umbrella! First image of Henry Cavill from ‘Batman v Superman’

All of the talk about the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has focused on Batman, Batman, Batman! (With a little bit of Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor and Aquaman sprinkled in.)

But though this isn’t technically supposed to be a sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel, according to reports, Superman is still the building block upon which Warner Brothers is presumably building its new superhero cinematic universe to compete with Marvel’s Avengers franchise. WB finally seemed to acknowledge that by releasing the first official image of Henry Cavill as Superman from the scheduled 2016 release.

Wherever Superman is (Batman’s Gotham City?), it’s dark and rainy. But Superman doesn’t need an umbrella. Maybe Christopher Reeve’s version would have, but not Henry Cavill’s! This image seems to set the tone of the movie. It’s apparently not going to be bright and cheery. (But hopefully, there’s some fun in there somewhere.)

Geeks, let us commence studying this updated Superman costume and whatever changes have been made from the Man of Steel suit. This is what we do and why the internet lets us do it.
