There are days when the internet just doesn’t let you down, when it’s clear just how much of a technological and cultural benefit it adds to our lives. That became even clearer in the hours after the U.S. men’s national team was defeated by Belgium in the World Cup on Tuesday.
Goalkeeper Tim Howard is now a national hero after making 16 saves versus Belgium, setting a World Cup record. Now that the U.S. is done in Brazil, what else could Howard save for us? Inspired by the possibilities, the people — armed with Photoshop — took to Twitter and created the #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave phenomenon.
The things Howard could’ve saved in people’s minds includes the dinosaurs, Bambi, Taylor Swift and the Titanic. Personally, saving us from Janet Jackson’s nipple is one of my favorites.
Oh, and someone also took it upon him or herself to temporarily install Howard as our nation’s Secretary of Defense. Good call.
This is awesome. Someone changed the Wikipedia page for the US Secretary of Defense to Tim Howard pic.twitter.com/Jq826ov3m9
