This is Braves prospect Todd Cunningham. Baseball America ranked him as the 16th best prospect in the organization this offseason. And here he is starring in a music video called “Rock Yo Jock”, which features Cunningham in his Lynchburg Hillcats hat, wearing a bedazzled jock strap around his neck.
In an interview with MiLB.com’s Benjamin Hill, Cunningham says that the music video is a “journey of discovery”, dealing with the quest to remain celibate until marriage. Cunningham also says that the blinged out jock strap worn in the video would be a good way to get attention for his message.
The video is an interesting way of preaching the topic of abstinence, and even if you don’t agree with his message, you have to applaud Cunningham for being creative with it instead of the usual way of going about the topic, which is generally more preachy in nature. A rap video with a blinged out jock strap isn’t exactly the most conventional way of doing things.
The 23 year-old Cunningham is starting his season with the Mississippi Braves, and is currently the starting right fielder for the team.
