Bryce Harper’s brother is a finalist for Mustached American of the Year

The American Mustache Institute (which really is a thing that exists) has announced their ten finalists for the Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year (also a real thing), and one of the finalists is Bryan Harper, Bryce's older brother.

The elder Harper was drafted in the 30th round of the 2011 Draft by the Nationals out of the University of South Carolina, a year after the Nationals drafted his brother first overall. The 23-year old spent the 2013 year with Hagerstown of the South Atlantic League, pitching to a 3.97 ERA and 5-1 record in 45 1/3 innings as a reliever, striking out 43 and walking 32. That's all well and good, but what about the stache?! As you can see in the picture above, the elder Harper goes with a solid Rollie Fingers-style handlebar mustache that captivated a national audience during July's All-Star Game at Citi Field.

Really, how great of a mustache is that? While his baby brother opts to go with a full beard and instead spends his time on ridiculous haircuts and styles, Brian spends his time crafting his facial hair to perfection.

If you'd like to vote, head over to the American Mustache Institute's website. Two baseball players have won the award before – Clay Zavada in 2009, and John Axford in 2011. It's an odd-numbered year, so maybe the voting will end in favor of baseball once again.
