We've completed previews for four of the six divisions across baseball, and today, we start our fifth: the AL Central. The Tigers won the division last year after being favored heavily before the season, but not without a huge challenge from the Chicago White Sox. In 2013, the Tigers and White Sox looked primed to contend again, with the Royals potentially being a dark horse in the division. Today, we begin our look at the division with the cellar dwellars from a year ago: the Minnesota Twins.
Friday, we finished off the NL Central by previewing the reigning division champion Cincinnati Reds. Here's your recap.
Here's what you mised around the Corner over the weekend. Warning: lots of WBC news.
-Robinson Cano and Jose Reyes of the Dominican Republic are one hell of a double play tandem.
-This missed call on a popup "caught" by Curt Smith of the Netherlands was a disgrace.
-Italy threw Pool D into chaos by beating Mexico on Thursday.
–Andrelton Simmons is still an unreal defender at short.
–Team USA was shockingly upset by Mexico in their first game of the WBC.
–Cuba beat the tar out of Chinese Taipei to end their Classic.
–Canada beat up Mexico on the scoreboard and physically on the field.
–Larry Walker had a classic interview after the brawl.
–Japan advanced to the semis, while the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico advanced from Pool C.
–David Wright carried the US team to a win over Italy.
Welcome to Twins Day, and enjoy your Spring Training, everyone.
