Notes and Observations

  • As always, remember that these rankings are fluid, and will change from week-to-week.
  • North Dakota State holds onto the top spot in the poll even though it lost to South Dakota State two weeks ago.
  • However, the Jackrabbits aren’t that far behind, as they received a first-place vote after defeating Youngstown State 24-10. Eastern Washington also received a first-place vote.
  • While our panel agreed on the top two or three teams, it had a myriad of different opinions on teams 4-10. We considered 11 different squads for the final two spots, which explains why we had a three-way tie for 10th this weekend.
  • North Carolina A&T enters the rankings this week at No. 10. The Aggies have quietly put together a fine season, including a win over Kent State. They look like the favorite to return to the Celebration Bowl this year, but will face a stiff test from North Carolina Central in the season finale.
  • Montana dropped out of the poll this week, after losing to Northern Arizona 45-34. Yet, the Grizzlies can earn their way back in if they can defeat Eastern Washington this weekend.
