Sooners and Cowboys Are Most Expensive NCAA Football Game This Weekend

The two teams from Oklahoma had very different Saturday evenings.

As the Oklahoma Sooners had a thrilling one-point win against the TCU Horned Frogs in their final home game of the regular season, the Oklahoma State Cowboys couldn’t capitalize on their opportunity to join the country’s elite teams with a 10-point loss to Baylor at home.

Without a Big 12 Championship game, the Sooners and Cowboys meet at Boone Pickens Stadium in the regular season finale for each team.

The game means more to the Sooners, who will either be in the College Football Playoff top four or be fifth after Ohio State’s loss. The fourth edition of the rankings will be released Tuesday night. The Cowboys would be in great position if they added another quality win to their resume, but general consensus is that they would need some help to reach the CFP top four when it’s all set and done.

On the secondary market, Oklahoma tickets against the Cowboys are the most expensive college football game of the weekend. According to TotallyTickets.com, entrance into the stadium in Stillwater, OK has an average price of $336.45 with a get-in price of $151. The ticket prices for the game have gone through a dramatic up and down in the past few weeks, but near evened out in the end.

On November 6th, the average ticket price was $320.57 and after Oklahoma State’s win against Iowa State it reached $448.22 by November 15th. The game reached a peak average ticket price of $486.28 on November 19th but after the Cowboys’ loss to Baylor, ticket prices dropped. Two days after the loss by November 23rd, the average ticket price fell to $334.10.

Heisman trophy candidate Baker Mayfield should be good to go for the showdown in Oklahoma after not being able to come out for the second half in the game against TCU. Mayfield took a hit to the back of the head and finished the half, but was eventually replaced by Trevor Knight. This week, he has passed all concussion protocols thus far and should be 100% by Saturday’s kickoff.
