ESPN’s Dan Graziano writes that RB DeMarco Murray will be a workhorse back for the Cowboys expected to carry the ball about 20 carries per game. Murray had five 20-carry games in 2011. Former starter Felix Jones is now Murray’s back up.
Blogger C. Joseph Wright concludes his three-part series in defense of OLB Anthony Spencer by saying “not only is Spencer much better than average, he might be awfully close to elite.” That’s been a question among Cowboys fans that do not see Spencer measuring up to the standard set by DeMarcus Ware. Ware, by the way, is the highest ranked NFC East player in the NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2012 poll.
DeMarcus Ware sorta agrees with team owner Jerry Jones that the window may be closing on the core group of Cowboys players to win a Super Bowl. “I feel like, from my standpoint, we’re a better team than we were last year, and it’s going to show on the field,” Ware said, per the Dallas Morning News. “Jerry saying that the window’s closing, I’m with Jerry. The window can be closing. It closes every year. It just depends on if you’re going to walk through that door or not. I’m with Jerry on that.”
Vikings DE Jared Allen thinks someone will break Michael Strachan’s 22.5 sack record and that someone might be the Cowboys’ DeMarcus Ware. “With that coming from Jared Allen, who had 22 last year, the sky’s the limit,” Ware responded. “I’ll also flip it back on him, and say, he can do the same thing, and also, Jason Babin. They’re playing really well. But, it’s all about how the season goes. If it’s more of a passing season, we’re probably going to have more sacks.”
